A big hello future traveller, student and Guest,

ABOUT US

We are a family of three; our child is of mid primary school age. We also have a very friendly cat who is mostly an indoor cat. English is our primary language with both adults fluent in Spanish.

Some of our interests include living a healthy lifestyle such as gym, yoga and dance and hanging out with family and friends. We enjoy watching movies and having days out such as at the zoo or going for nature walks. During summer weekends you will often find us at the beach and going out for ice-coffees and ice-creams.

In our previous homes, we hosted several guests, both short term and longer stay students and travellers. We have found the experience to be enjoyable and an opportunity to learn about other cultures and make friends along the way.

We too have had many travelling experiences, so understand the excitement and also the stresses of being in a new country. We’d like to think that our home is soft landing space – offering safety, comfort and an opportunity to ease into Australian life with a bilingual/cultural family that can help you navigate this new experience joyfully.

Are you looking for a cozy space so that you can focus on your studies?

Are you looking for a place easily accessible day and night by public transport in one of Melbourne’s coolest areas?

We are looking for an easy-going guest that is wanting to share a relatively quiet, chilled out family home in a modern town house.

We work most of the week and our child is turning 9. She isn’t a noisy child and keeps all her toys in her room. Having said that, we are not pedantic so it’s not a biggie if some miscellaneous items find their way into the communal space… we just work together to keep things tidy.

Bedtime is usually at 8.30pm so we prefer a reduction in noise from this time. The bedrooms are not adjacent, so reasonable TV noise, music and phone calls is not an issue.

We are social, upbeat people who enjoy a chat, but are looking for a guest that is relatively independent as we live a busy lifestyle.

We keep our house guests to a minimum, especially during the weekdays – this may be a positive for you too? Of course, when we do host - like a BBQ, you will be most welcome to join!

OUR HOUSE

Our 3-floored townhouse is in a fantastic, sort after location in the inner north - with everything you need at a short walking distance - including a central tram line that takes you straight into town within 20-30 minutes and a bus stop – both 1 minute walk away. There is a large supermarket, bars, restaurants, cafés, cinema, park, nature/creek walk and more within 7-minutes’ walk too! … you will not need a car! But if you do have one, there are two hour parking bays available in our street during the day and free times all night from 6pm.

We spend our together time at home in the living space – a brightly lit middle floor where you will share the kitchen, dining area and semi-separate lounge space. We also enjoy hanging out on our balcony that overlooks our quiet, leafy street. Our house is warm in winter and cool in summer.

YOUR ROOM

On the ground floor - we have our guest-bedroom. It has a window with privacy filter/mosquito screen. The room is cozy, modern room with clean, white walls and grey carpet. There is a heater for winter and the room is cool in summer.

The bathroom next door is barely used - it has a shower/full-sized bathtub/toilet/cabinet and will always be available for you at your convenience.
We offer you the option of a single or double bed (depending on your preference for room space) and includes a desk with stool, a built-in wardrobe with draws, heater, rug, mirror and lamp.

All bedlinen and towels are included and washed for you once per week. You will have access to our washing machine and dryer for your general laundry needs.
We can also allocate some space in the garage for your suitcases/bike, etc.

Fast, unlimited internet and all bills are included in your boarding fee.

Please be mindful that, although we are liberal minded – for comfort and safety, we accept no unexpected guests – particularly at night. This is something we can discuss and pre-approve as need be. You will have your own keys and of course can enter and go as you please (just quietly at night).

Please keep the bedroom clean of open food containers and dirty plates/mugs as this will certainly attract ants and bugs – particularly in the hotter climate.

No drugs or smoking in the house; keep alcohol consumption to a minimum; and strictly no inappropriate behaviour (including offensive communication).

CLEANING

Most cleaning materials will be provided for communal spaces unless you have specific needs/preferences.

The main deep cleaning of the house is included. Your responsibility will be to clean your room, dishes after use, keep the bathroom tidy/clean and make sure you switch off the heater and lights when not in use.

MEALS / FOOD

We do not provide meals as we are a busy family and therefore usually only home early mornings and evenings. Please note that we are non-veg and do not practice any religious customs/requirements. We are happy to accommodate within reason.

We prefer no heavy frying or strong-smelling foods to be cooked regularly (especially fish) - and we expect food to be handled and put away hygienically to avoid cross contamination …. and ANTS. You will have access to space in the pantry and fridge and all our main kitchen tools are available for use – you won’t need anything.
If you prefer, you can order from the supermarkets for home delivery and we also live1 minute walk from an ethical/organic mini supermarket.

ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS

We ask for two weeks rent and two weeks bond in advance.

Please give a minimum of two weeks’ notice if leaving earlier than our agreement to avoid losing your bond.

If your stay is shorter – we will charge you according to that stay length in rent with a minimum bond of 1 week.

The bond is returned on the last day of your stay providing there is no damage or theft.

A check list is provided at the beginning of your stay with provided items and the house rules (stated above).

The house and your room should be left in a relatively clean and tidy state to avoid loss of bond. This information will be emailed to you prior to your arrival that states your commitment and ours, so we are all onboard.
