I started to host international student eight years ago because I think it is a very rewarding and interesting experience. I live in Mont Albert, which is one of the safest and prettiest suburbs in Melbourne. I am a very nurturing person who would love to provide a secure environment to the students who spend time in Australia. I have had students from China, Korea, Vietnam and Japan in the past, and welcome the opportunity of hosting students from all different countries. I find hosting international students a very satisfying experience and it gives me immense pleasure to see the students do well in their study. I am easy going and joyful, and I am always willing to help students with their English and other needs.

I am 56 years of age and I work full time. I live 7 to 8 minutes walk from the Union train station and therefore, very convenient. I came to Australia with my family when I was 14 years old and therefore, understand the emotional challenges that international students are going through. I do speak a little Mandarin but I speak English at home.

My interest includes cooking, travelling (been to many countries), watching TV but majority of the time, I work and look after my 24 year old daughter who is in universities. My daughter does not speak Chinese at all but she loves different cultures. I have taken my daughter to Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan for holidays in the past and she absolutely loves the experience.

I am also a volunteer with Anglicare, which is a charity organisation, and I look after children with disability from time to time. The purpose of it is to provide respite to the families who have children with disability. I find it very rewarding and challenging, and would really like to do something for the community. As a result of being a volunteer, I already have “Working with Children Check” and “Criminal History Check” in place. The above mentioned checks are mandatory for hosting under 18 and therefore, I am equipped to host students under 18 as well as over 18 years of age.

Last but not least, my home is close to Deakin Universty, Swinburne University, and many other institutions. It is also only a 25 minutes train ride into the heart of the city, which is where RMIT, The University of Melbourne and many English language centres are located.
